A Web Interface for the Management of Virtual Portfolio
Bali, Filip ; Hruška, Martin (referee) ; Lengál, Ondřej (advisor)
This thesis designs and implements a web application for managing virtual portfolios. Main goal of the application is visualise and analyze data from stock exchange services API. User can be notified on price change. The application also uses existing methods to predict stock prices and supports the visualization of the user's stock exchange decisions and provides him/her a general overview of them.
Price Prediction Using Machine Learning Methods on the European Market of Used Cars
Dvořáček, Petr ; Baruník, Jozef (advisor) ; Vácha, Lukáš (referee)
This master's thesis proposes accurate predictions of the prices of used cars. It builds its fundamentals on the available research and broadens the academic literature by applying several modern techniques to the European market. Us- ing machine learning models and unique data, high accuracy of predictions was obtained. The precise prediction of the residual value of a used car might benefit both the buyers and the sellers, and also reduce market inefficiencies. We are not aware of any similar work in the particular field focusing on the European market. An application programming interface (API) was exploited in order to col- lect the data. Therefore, a large set of data consisting of 221,704 used car classifieds was gathered and used in various models (MLR, PCR, LASSO, De- cision Tree, Random Forests, and ANNs). This study aims to find the most precise model for estimating the prices of used cars with the help of several performance statistics (R2, RMSE, and MAE). We support the available lit- erature as the random forest approach provided the highest accuracy when predicting the used car prices. A model using ANNs seemed to be the second best in terms of predictive performances, however, required comparably much more computing power. The effects of various attributes of used vehicles on their...
Investing in pharmaceutical companies from the perspective of a long-term investor
PŘÍPLATA, Milan
The main aim of this master thesis is to determine the prediction of the market value of shares and to compile an investment recommendation for a long-term private investor based on a technical and fundamental analysis of the shares of selected companies from the pharmaceutical industry. In the sense of technical analysis, the graph was worked with the help of trend, price and volume indicators and other metrics such as graph formations or trend analysis. In the sense of fundamental analysis, an analysis of the macroeconomic environment was carried out, then an analysis of the pharmaceutical industry sector was carried out, and last but not least, a financial analysis was carried out at the enterprise level of the selected companies. As a supplement to the work, an interview was conducted with a practitioner on the subject of technical and fundamental analysis.

The Application of Technical Analysis to the Czech Capital Market in the Period of Economic Recession
Špringer, Milan ; Pígl, Jan (advisor)
These lines deal with both theoretical and analytical view of real usability of individual methods and techniques in the Czech capital market in the period of economic crisis (2008-2009). The document introduces the basic technical analysis methodology (the technique based on graphics outputs of specific data files and the technique based on the mathematical indicators) in the theoretical chapters. An introduction and subsequent description of the mentioned methodology in the sphere of price predication of shares and funds is the main tendency in this theoretical chapter, not the profound interpretation. The work attends to concrete analysing of some basic hypothesises of common usability of our main theme, technical analysis. Price development of the selected titles and the endeavour to apply the techniques described in the theoretical chapter to these data series are included in the analytical chapter. The reader wants to make his own idea of how is the real usage of such an analysis difficult. Very helpful is also a demonstration of a big measure of subjective level in production and calculation of some indicators. Final part shows us the most interesting results for the practical usability of the mentioned methods and indicators in the sphere of the Czech Capital Market.
